EARLY HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE "C.M. Yazzie" CARDINAL CONCHO BELT
This is an exceptional Early Concho Belt which was a Personal Belt of the Navajo Artisan C.M. Yazzie.
What sets this Belt apart from his later pieces is that he did not sign his early work as he does today..Known as "One of the best Silversmiths of that Era"(ARIZONA HIGHWAYS)
He not only worked with Turquoise he did exceptional Inlay work which was then very unusual for a Navajo Silversmith as Zuni's primarily used this technique..I would say his Inlay Work was as good as the Great Zuni Silversmiths and Lapidarist of his day..Including the renown Dennis Edaakie.. This is a great opportunity to have a highly collectible Piece in your collection.
Done in Sterling Silver, it is not Cast but Hand tooled as you can clearly see from the back of the buckle..Overlay technique with Hand Pounded sheet along with Hand Stamped designs and chisel work are clean and precise.. LOOK at the intricate Cardinal Inlay with the delicate branches it is perched on.
